HistoryDancingMonkey.Org has been through a lot of redesigns over the years. A few months ago I went looking to update my website again.
It had been stagnant for over a year, and with a few exceptions wasn't very relavant to my life or hobbies anymore. I looked around at the blog offerings on the net, WordPress, Moveable Type, Blogger, to see if any of those would make a good website. While they're all excellent pieces of software they weren't quite what I was looking for. I didn't really want a blog, I wanted to display my photos, but not as a gallery, one at a time so each photo could be enjoyed or hated on it's own strengths. Around this time I stumbled onto PixelPost, Open-Source PhotoBlog Software. PhotoBlogsPhotoblogs are an interesting combination of a blog and a photo gallery. They're designed to have very little, if any, text. Instead of journal entries, photoblogs serve up a photo with each post, just a single one.If you're interested in photoblogs in more detail: Below is a list of links that you may find are useful in getting your blog up and running:

About SteveFor the curious, I'm a 26 year old, Systems Administrator with a camera or two. I fell in love with photography at an early age but didn't start to annoy my friends in earnest until I picked up my first digital camera in college. Before I could only take one or two pictures and then wait impatiently for the film to be developed. Now I can take hundreds of pictures and scrutinize each and every one of them from the screen on the back. What a magical device! I love nature and the outdoors, running and photography, sailing and freshly baked apple pie. I love sandwiches, cooking, computers, and long walks on the beach. I like absurdity in life, outrageous humor, and a nice pair of blue jeans that haven't been pre-frayed/worn/sandblasted. One thing I'm not too fond of is self-portraits, which is probably the main reason I love photography so much, if I'm behind the camera, I don't have to be in front of it. More Stuff |
